PERRY, GA – Today, Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) joined Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, Representative Sanford Bishop (GA-02) and Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black in touring crop damage in Houston County and talking with farmers affected by Hurricane Irma. After the visit, Rep. Scott released the following statement:

“As a Georgian and son of a farmer, Secretary Perdue understands full well the unique challenges ranchers and farmers face in this day and age, including when it comes to weather events that damage fields, orchards, and livestock,” said. Rep. Scott. “I am confident that as we continue to assess the impacts of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma on our agriculture industry, we have an advocate in Secretary Perdue who will fight for our producers in their time of greatest need, and I look forward to working with him and the Trump Administration to provide necessary reliefs to our producers who feed America.”

In addition to surveying damages at Mason Farm, Secretary Perdue also visited Shiloh Farm in Ray City and Watson Farms in Moultrie.
