Rep. Austin Scott Presents Congressional Award Bronze Medal
February 14, 2024MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.-- U.S. Representative Austin Scott (GA-08) recently presented the Congressional Award Bronze Medal to recipient Danica Resha in Baldwin County.
“Danica’s achievements demonstrate that she is among the best and brightest of our next generation, and I am proud to recognize her accomplishments,” Scott said.
The Congressional Award is the highest award for America’s youth that is presented by the United States Congress. The United States Congress established the Congressional Award in 1979 to recognize initiative, service, and achievement?in young people. It began as a bipartisan effort in both the United States Senate and the House of Representatives.
To be considered for the Bronze Medal, students must commit a minimum of 200 hours toward voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness, and expedition or exploration. During this time, participants learn about responsibility, citizenship, and the ability to plan and organize.
Danica's exceptional accomplishments included a restoration project at Camp Benjamin Hawkins, learning American Sign Language, and adhering to a rigorous exercise regimen.
