WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) today released the following statement after the announcement to move fuselage panel assembly for the 747 to the Boeing Macon facility.

“Today’s announcement to move fuselage panel assembly for Boeing’s 747 to the Macon facility is great news for the greater-Macon community,” said Congressman Austin Scott.  “Not only does this move create valued and stable jobs, but it also confirms Boeing’s long-standing commitment to the area and further cements Georgia’s leadership in aerospace innovation.”

The Boeing Macon facility currently builds replacement center wing sections for the A-10, the U.S. Air Force ground attack airplane flown out of Moody Air Force Base in Congressman Scott’s district, as well as sub-assemblies for the CH-47 (Chinook) helicopter.  Boeing opened its Macon facility in 1980 to manufacture 747 cargo deck equipment.
