TIFTON, GA - Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) released the below statement upon President Joe Biden announcing sweeping new COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

"I tested positive for COVID-19 last year and spent several days in the hospital on oxygen. I believe the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective, and I will continue to encourage Georgians to make a decision with their doctor. But I do not support a dictatorial COVID-19 vaccine mandate, vaccine passports, or forcing private businesses to give workers paid time off to comply with Biden’s mandate,” said Rep. Scott. “Getting a vaccine is a personal choice. This is America, and Joe Biden doesn't get to dictate the health care choices of Americans.”

Yesterday, President Biden announcement that it will order the Department of Labor to issue a national vaccine mandate for workers employed by a business with 100 or more employees, or require a weekly test before coming to work. Businesses will have to pay thousands in finds per violation.
