WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) today released the following statement regarding his support of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2016, which passed the House of Representatives today by a vote of 270-156:

“This is a step in the right direction towards ensuring our nation’s military has the funding they need to properly defend our country,” said Congressman Austin Scott. “It would be irresponsible for the President to veto this important funding authorization and jeopardize our military capabilities and readiness. This is a bipartisan bill, the House version of which originally passed out of the House Armed Services Committee by a vote of 60-2. While I don’t agree with all provisions, I am thankful that the NDAA provides for Moody and Robins Air Force Bases as it funds the A-10C Warthog and prevents retirement of the fleet, prevents furloughs of depot employees, and allows for the recapitalization of the JSTARS.”
