This morning, Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08), a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), joined Newsmax's "National Report" to discuss tomorrow’s HASC hearing entitled, “Ending the U.S. Military Mission in Afghanistan.” This will serve as a time for HASC members to receive testimony from the Department of Defense on the issues surrounding the end of the U.S. military mission in Afghanistan.

Witnesses for tomorrow’s HASC hearing include: Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin; Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley; and CENTCOM Commander, General Kenneth McKenzie Jr., USMC.

During today’s interview, Rep. Scott noted that he intends to ask the witnesses if/when advice to President Joe Biden was updated based off incoming intelligence reports of the rapidly deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan and if that updated advice on the risks associated with withdrawing was heeded. He also intends to ask how it was determined which Afghans were evacuated when several thousand Afghans with visas and hundreds of Americans were left behind.
