This morning, Congressman Austin Scott (R-GA-08) joined Newsmax’s Shaun Kraisman on “The National Report” to discuss reforms to Georgia’s election laws and the crisis at the Southern border.

Rep. Scott tells Shaun that Democrats and the national media should look at the facts before jumping to conclusions on Georgia’s election reforms. He contends that the bill makes elections more secure by requiring a valid driver’s license or free state-issued identification card for absentee voting. Georgia already requires this for in-person voting. He also notes that Georgia has granted counties the ability to hold Saturday voting, allowing for more opportunities for Georgians to cast ballots.

A senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Scott is concerned about the crisis at the Southern border. For years, he has raised the alarm about transnational criminal organizations who smuggle people and weapons over the border and has submitted provisions to the annual National Defense Authorization Act to help the United States Southern Command combat these groups and their dangerous practices.

During their discussion, Rep. Scott also stated he is opposed to a so-called “COVID-19 vaccine passport.” Rep. Scott received his COVID-19 vaccination on March 25 – the first day in Georgia his age group was eligible to receive it – and he continues to urge Americans to consider getting the vaccine.
