WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08), a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, met with United States Secretary of the Air Force, Barbara Barrett, and Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General David Goldfein, to discuss the Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS), the future of the 116^th Air Control Wing, and the importance of both Robins and Moody Air Force Bases in Georgia’s Eighth District. Following the meeting, Rep. Scott released the following statement:

“I appreciate Secretary Barrett and Gen. Goldfein taking the time to meet with me to discuss the future of ABMS and JSTARS missions at Robins. The mission of the 116th and 461st Air Control Wings are critical for the Combatant Commanders, and we are proud they are based in Warner Robins,” said Rep. Austin Scott. “Georgia’s Eighth District is home to two important Air Force bases, which play a pivotal role in our national security and defense. As we begin the Fiscal Year 2021 National Defense Authorization Act proceedings, I look forward to continuing to work with Secretary Barrett, Gen. Goldfein, and the White House to ensure our warfighters have the tools they need to tackle the very real threats our nation faces.”

Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins is home to the critically important E-8 Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS), which provides critical airborne surveillance, intelligence, and command and control to the U.S. military through on-board radar and computer subsystems equipment that gathers and distributes detailed battlefield information.

In June 2018, the Air Force named Robins the future home of ABMS, which will be a system of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) sensor data from around the world. Rep. Scott has asserted that the Air Force must maintain the important capability which JSTARS provides until ABMS technology is mature, fully developed, and can be implemented.

Robins is also home to the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex (WR-ALC), which provides depot maintenance, engineering support and software development to major weapon systems (F-15, C-5, C-130, C-17 and SOF aircraft) and the headquarters of the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC).

Moody Air Force Base near Valdosta is home to the 23d Wing and the 93d Air Ground Operations Wing which organizes, trains, and employs combat-ready A-10C, HC-130J, HH-60G, and weapons systems.
