WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) released the below statement upon Rep. Mac Thornberry (TX-13), Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), announcing Republican membership subcommittee assignments for the 116th Congress. This will be Rep. Scott’s fifth term to serve on HASC, and he will be the only Georgian to serve on the Committee.

“In addition to our robust agriculture industry, our military installations, service members, veterans and military families are a key component of our state and our local communities. As a member of HASC, I am committed to ensuring our warfighters have the resources they need to meet the demands of their missions, while also taking care of our military families and veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country,” said Rep. Scott. “I expect the Armed Services Committee of the 116th Congress to look very different than that of the 115th, yet I am hopeful we can continue to come to bipartisan agreements and seek solutions to tackle the greatest threats of our nation while ensuring the progress we have made to rebuild and restore our equipment and platforms does not come unraveled at the expense of political gamesmanship.”

Rep. Scott’s HASC subcommittee assignments for the 116th Congress include:

  • Subcommittee on Readiness
  • Subcommittee on Intelligence, Emerging Threats, and Capabilities
