WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08), a Member of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), released the following statement upon HASC Subcommittees today meeting and favorably passing polices out of their respective Subcommittees and sending them to the Full Committee to be debated on and potentially included in the Fiscal Year 2019 (FY2019) National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):

“Today, the Committee began the FY2019 NDAA process by favorably reporting the HASC Subcommittee Marks, which will be included in the larger Chairman’s Mark to be released in early May,” said Rep. Scott. “After a hard-fought win earlier this year to provide our military with a secure two-year funding measure, Members of the Committee are now fully committed to ensuring our service men and women can leverage their budget increase to secure the technology, equipment, and resources they need to protect the homeland and complete their missions abroad.”

Rep. Scott continued: “The NDAA process is long, but I am focused on pressing forward with provisions that support our men and women in uniform, rebuild our aircraft and ship fleets, increase troop size, and ensure the readiness of our military is never in jeopardy. I look forward to the Full Committee Mark-up and am ready to get to work again crafting this monumental piece of legislation.”

Today’s Subcommittee Marks include policies to rebuild troop readiness and make investments in equipment maintenance, support our service members and military families, continue development of our missile defense systems, and bolster our aircraft and ship fleets, among other things.
