WASHINGTON, D.C. — Over the weekend, Representative Austin Scott (GA-08), a Member of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), returned from an eight-day, four-nation visit to joint U.S. training sites and military installations in Kenya, Djibouti, Sudan, and Somalia, conducting security cooperation activities with local partners and seeing first-hand the challenges the U.S. military faces in combatting the threat of terrorism in the region and around the world.

“The world is becoming an increasingly unsafe and unstable place, making our strategic partnerships and defense cooperations all the more important and pertinent,” said Rep. Scott. “This visit was productive and informative, and I look forward to sharing these experiences with my colleagues and continue working to ensure our men and women in uniform have the tools they need to complete their missions, protect the homeland, increase our international security cooperations, and advance U.S. interests around the world.”

Joining Rep. Scott on the Congressional Delegation (CODEL) were fellow HASC Members Reps. Marc Veasey (TX-33) and Jimmy Panetta (CA-20).
