WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Austin Scott (GA-08) today issued the following statement upon the House passing the No Hero Left Untreated Act (H.R. 1162), a bill which would create a pilot program to explore treatments for veterans experiencing mental health conditions, over-prescription of opioids, and chronic pain. Rep. Scott is an original co-sponsor of the bill.

“For their sacrifices and commitment to our country, it is our duty to take care of our warfighters suffering from both the physical and invisible wounds of war,” said Rep. Scott. “Our veterans deserve top-quality care, and today’s legislation takes an important step forward in modernizing our approach to combatting opioid addiction and mental health conditions of our service members to help them get the help they need.”

Today’s legislation would require the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to carry out a one-year pilot program at up to two VA medical facilities to provide access to magnetic EEG/EKG-guided resonance therapy to veterans with PTSD, TBI, MST, chronic pain or opiate addiction for up to fifty veterans.
