WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative Austin Scott (GA-08) today released the following statement on President Trump's decision to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program:

“President Obama’s DACA program, created in 2012, was a clear overreach of executive power and circumvented the laws of our country," said Rep. Scott. "It’s no secret that our immigration system is broken and in need of permanent legislative solutions, not short-term fixes. Addressing the status of young people who were brought here illegally by their parents is just one of the many immigration issues Congress must resolve."

Rep. Scott continued: “I look forward to continue working with my colleagues and the Administration to craft policies that secure our borders, strengthen our economy, and keep Americans safe while allowing lawful immigration to the United States.”
