TIFTON, GA – Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08), a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement following President Joe Biden's address to the nation on Afghanistan:

“I supported ending the war in Afghanistan, but President Biden’s withdrawal and lack of a plan to get people out of the country is a colossal failure. He has pointed the finger at everyone but has taken zero responsibility, and now there are Americans stranded behind Taliban lines without any support from the State Department as to how to get out of the country,” said Rep. Scott. “There are tough questions that need to be asked. The American and Afghan people deserve answers, especially those who fought and lost their lives in Afghanistan and the women and girls who are now plunged into a cruel, barbaric society. It is unfathomable how we got here so quickly.”
