WASHINGTON, DC –Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) today praised the U.S. House of Representatives on passing H.R. 4435, the Fiscal Year 2015 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) with a vote of 325 to 98.

The bill provides funding for our nation’s military, including $521.3 billion in national defense funding and $79.4 billion reserved for Overseas Contingency Operations.

“I applaud the House for standing with our nation’s military and passing the National Defense Authorization Act,” said Congressman Scott. “This vital legislation provides resources for our men and women in uniform and does so in line with the Bipartisan Budget Act. Now, I urge the Senate to act on this important legislation to give our defense leaders some certainty going into next year. I am proud to represent Robins Air Force Base and Moody Air Force Base in Congress, and I will continue to push for new missions for our bases.”

Rep. Scott, who serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the Readiness, Military Personnel, and Oversight Subcommittees, represents Robins and Moody Air Force Bases.

Rep. Scott joined Rep. Hartzler (R-MO) and Rep. Barber (D-AZ) to include funding to preserve the A-10 fleet and require a study to ensure that troops have adequate close air support. Moody Air Force Base has two squadrons of the A-10C Warthogs.

The NDAA rejects President Obama’s request for Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and his proposed cuts to military benefits including TRICARE, Housing Allowances, and Commissary benefits. In addition, the bill abides by existing law, allowing a 1.8 percent increase in base pay for our service members.

The legislation also includes $27.7 million in military construction for the Air Force Reserve Command Headquarters, located at Robins Air Force Base, and protects the civilian workforce, including those who work at the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex.
