WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) today applauds the passage of H.R. 4870, Department of Defense Appropriations Act 2015.

“I am proud that the House passed the 2015 Defense Appropriations Act, H.R. 4870, today with my support,” said Congressman Scott. “This legislation echoes the hard work of the House Armed Services Committee on the National Defense Authorization Act by providing $490.9 billion in discretionary spending for the Department of Defense.  With the vital role that Robins Air Force Base and Moody Air Force Base play in our nation’s defense, the passage of the Defense Appropriations Act is good news for the Eighth Congressional District of Georgia.”

The Defense Appropriations Act is of particular importance to Robins Air Force Base and Moody Air Force Base, both areas represented by Congressman Scott. The act provides $73 millions in funding for the recapitalization of the JSTARS fleet, flown out of Robins Air Force Base, and prohibits the retirement of the A-10 Warthog aircraft, such as those stationed at Moody Air Force Base, or the disestablishment of any unit associated with the aircraft for 2015.

In addition, the Defense Appropriations Act provides funding to increase pay for military personnel by 1.8% for 2015, an increase from the President’s proposed pay raise.  The act also prevents a Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) for 2015 and furloughs of dual status military technicians.
