WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Armed Services Committee Chairman, Mac Thornberry, announced the Armed Services subcommittees on which Congressman Austin Scott will lead and serve for the 114th Congress.

Congressman Scott was appointed to the Readiness Subcommittee and the Oversight and Investigation Subcommittee.

“As the only Republican Representative from Georgia on the House Armed Services Committee, I am proud to serve on two respected subcommittees that oversee many issues affecting our state’s military installations,” said Congressman Austin Scott. “Georgia is a major contributor to our nation’s defense, and with growing threats both domestic and abroad, it is more important than ever that we fight to ensure all of our country’s bases have the capabilities to adequately protect our nation. My position on the Readiness Subcommittee will allow me to support Robins Air Force Base, which is a major source of weapons systems sustainment, and improve flying hours and training for airmen such as those stationed at Moody Air Force Base.”

The Readiness Subcommittee has jurisdiction over training, sustainment, military construction, depot policy, civilian personnel, and the BRAC process.  The Oversight and Investigation Subcommittee conducts investigates cases of waste, fraud, and abuse within the Department of Defense.
