Washington D.C. –U.S. Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) once again called on the President to keep his promise to the American people and undo his sequester. Click on the image for a clip of his remarks:

“To add to the uncertainty, the President’s proposed sequestration is set to take effect this March. Despite his promise—his promise to the American people -- that it would never actually happen, the President has yet to take any steps to undo this harmful measure. He has shown absolute indifference to the millions of Americans whose livelihoods would be severely impacted by his sequestration.”

Background: Rep. Scott did not vote for the Budget Control Act of 2011, the original legislation that included the President’s sequester. On two occasions since, the House passed H.R. 3662 and H.R. 5652, that would repeal the sequester.  Neither of those bills were brought up for a vote in the Senate.
