Washington D.C. – U.S. Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) offered his reaction to the President’s State of the Union Address. Chief among Rep. Scott’s concerns was that the President did not take tonight’s speech as an opportunity to outline a plan to undo his administration’s sequester. The President is planning to visit Georgia this Thursday as part of his post State of the Union tour across the country. However, Rep. Scott was disappointed that the President does not plan to address his sequester on his visit or discuss the impact it would have on the thousands of military and civilian personnel who call Georgia home. Rep. Scott also addressed the President’s comments regarding the use of Executive Orders. The Congressman said that was one of the statements that concerned him most from tonight’s speech saying, “I think again that shows a lack of respect for the Constitution and the way our forefathers set up our country to run."
